Data Subject Rights under GDPR
Individuals have rights over their personal data, and GDPR specifies how organizations must respond. This module covers rights such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and protections related to automated decision-making. You will learn procedures for receiving, validating, and fulfilling requests within regulatory timeframes, while maintaining data integrity and security throughout the process.
Data Processing Agreements, Controllers, Processors, and DPO Relationships
This module clarifies contractual and governance aspects of GDPR compliance. You will learn about data processing agreements (DPAs), contracts with processors, sub-processor relations, audit rights, and the allocation of responsibilities between controllers and processors. The role and duties of a Data Protection Officer (DPO), when applicable, are explained, including independence, reporting lines, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance.
Data Security and Privacy by Design
Security controls must be integrated into all processing activities. This module covers technical and organizational measures such as access controls, encryption, pseudonymization, incident response readiness, and secure software development practices. You will learn how to embed privacy by design and by default into projects, assess risk, and document security decisions to support accountability.
Data Mapping, Records of Processing, and Documentation
Understanding data flows is essential for GDPR compliance. This module guides you through data mapping, creating and maintaining Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), and building inventories of processing activities. You will learn how to document purposes, categories of data, recipients, retention periods, and safeguards, as well as how to keep documentation up to date through audits and change management.
Transfers of Personal Data and International Data Flows
Cross-border data transfers require appropriate safeguards. This module covers mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), adequacy decisions, and supplementary measures, as well as derogations for specific situations. You will learn how to assess transfer risk, implement transfer impact assessments, and ensure ongoing compliance when data moves outside the local jurisdiction.
Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
DPIAs help identify and mitigate privacy risks before processing begins. This module explains when a DPIA is required, the steps to conduct one (describe processing, assess necessity and proportionality, identify risks, and outline mitigations), and how to consult the Data Protection Officer and stakeholders. You will practice documenting risk levels and selecting appropriate controls to reduce residual risk.
Accountability, Vendor Management, and Compliance Checklist
A GDPR program relies on governance, training, and ongoing monitoring. This module covers accountability principles, audit trails, and continuous improvement. You will learn how to manage third-party risk, perform due diligence on vendors, and maintain a practical compliance checklist to track policies, procedures, training, and records across the organization.
